Scripture: Matthew 7:24–25
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
Reflection
Out here, storms test everything — roofs, fences, and faith. When the wind howls through the valley, you learn real quick what’s built to last. The barns that still stand after years of rain and snow aren’t the prettiest ones — they’re the ones built slow, steady, and square. Beams placed right, corners braced tight, and foundations that don’t give when the soil turns soft.
Faith works the same way. You can’t throw it together and expect it to hold when life bears down. You can’t patch it with quick prayers and call it secure. A faith that endures has been tested — not just built for sunny days but proven through the storms that come without warning.
The farmer knows there’s no shortcut to a strong barn. It takes time, patience, and strong hands to raise something that can weather years of hard wind. God builds us the same way — not in the rush of a single season, but in the slow work of obedience, prayer, and trust.
There’s beauty in the weathered boards — every scar tells a story of what didn’t fall. Maybe that’s you right now — standing in the wind, creaking but still upright. Maybe you’ve taken a beating, but you’re still standing on the foundation that doesn’t shift. That’s grace.
When Jesus spoke of building on the rock, He wasn’t just talking about houses; He was talking about hearts. The storms don’t mean the builder failed — they just prove what the foundation was made of.
Takeaway
Build your life like the farmer builds a barn — patient, steady, anchored deep. Let God be your foundation, and when the winds rise, you’ll still be standing.
