A Turning Point for America: Free Speech, Faith, and the Future of Our Nation

On September 10, 2025, America witnessed a tragedy that cut to the heart of who we are. Charlie Kirk — a Christian, a conservative leader, and an outspoken advocate for free speech — was assassinated while preparing to speak at Utah Valley University. He wasn’t going to rally an army or incite violence. He was going to talk about words, ideas, and the freedom to speak them.

That’s the very foundation of our Republic — and someone decided it deserved a bullet.

Free Speech Under Fire

This is not just about Charlie Kirk. It’s about what his assassination represents. For years, we’ve watched political violence rise in America. Presidents targeted, lawmakers gunned down, citizens silenced with intimidation. But the murder of a man speaking on free speech itself is more than irony — it’s a warning.

When a nation no longer protects the voices it disagrees with, it ceases to be free. Colleges, once meant to foster debate and learning, are now battlegrounds where speaking unpopular truths can cost your life.

The Role of Faith

Charlie Kirk didn’t just speak as a political commentator. He spoke as a Christian. He believed freedom was not man’s invention but God’s gift. That’s why he fought so hard for it.

Scripture reminds us:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17

Liberty is not granted by presidents, courts, or media. It flows from God. And when we lose sight of that, we lose the anchor that has kept America from drifting into tyranny.

The Crossroads

So here we are: a turning point in America.

  • Do we allow fear to silence us?
  • Do we accept violence as the cost of speaking truth?
  • Do we let media shrug and say, “He deserved it,” until no one dares stand for faith or freedom again?

Or — do we stand?

Do we reclaim the old American truth that debate is won with words, not weapons; that rights come from God, not government; and that free speech, paired with faith, is still worth defending at all costs?

And let’s be clear: this is not just about free speech in the abstract. We must speak boldly about Christ, about traditional values, and about conservatism — not in whispers, not in fear, but in confidence that truth is stronger than bullets.

The Call

Charlie’s death must not be the end of the conversation — it must be the beginning of a movement. We cannot undo what was done on that rooftop. But we can decide, right here and right now, whether this moment turns us toward fear, or toward freedom.

For those of us who believe in Christ, the answer is clear:

  • We grieve, but we do not cower.
  • We pray, but we also speak.
  • We honor his legacy not with silence, but with courage.

Because if America loses free speech and the faith that undergirds it, we lose America itself.

🙏 Prayer for Charlie Kirk’s Family
