Scripture:
βBe still, and know that I am God.β β Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)
Devotional:
Life has a way of rushing us forward. We move from one task to the next, eyes fixed on whatβs urgent β groceries, appointments, work, school. Somewhere in the shuffle, we forget to look up.
Yet often, God isnβt waiting for us at the finish line of our plans. Heβs right here β in the quiet spaces of our everyday life.
Think about the last time you paused to notice a sunrise, or the way the light fell through the trees. Maybe it was the laughter of a child, or the way a simple cup of coffee warmed your hands on a tired morning. These arenβt interruptions. Theyβre reminders: God is near.
The psalmistβs invitation to βbe stillβ isnβt about stopping life completely. Itβs about slowing down enough to notice Godβs presence woven through the ordinary. When we practice stillness β even for a moment β we begin to see the sacred all around us.
Like Elijah on the mountain, we may expect God in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. But instead, He speaks in a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11β12). That whisper is often hidden in the ordinary β and weβll miss it if we never slow down.
This is why our calling is simple yet powerful: Speak Life. Spread Grace. When we pause to notice God in the ordinary, we carry His presence into the world around us. Our words become gentler, our eyes kinder, our lives a reflection of the grace weβve received.
Reflection Question:
What ordinary moment today reminded you of Godβs presence?
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me when I rush through my days without looking for You. Open my eyes to the simple, quiet places where You are already at work. Teach me to treasure the ordinary as holy ground. Help me to speak life and spread grace in the middle of it all. Amen.
