We Are a Christian Nation

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” — Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV)
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” — Psalm 33:12 (NKJV)

Our Foundation Was Faith
From the Mayflower Compact to the Declaration of Independence, our beginnings were not built on rebellion, but on reliance on God. When the Pilgrims stepped off the Mayflower in 1620, they declared their mission was “for the glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith.” That thread runs through every founding document that followed.

The Faith of the Founders
They didn’t hide their belief — they anchored the Republic in it.

• George Washington: “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”
• John Adams: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.”
• Patrick Henry: “This great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

These weren’t just side comments — they were the moral scaffolding of the Constitution itself.

God’s Hand in Our History
It was God who brought the founders here. It was God who gave them wisdom to form this nation. And it was God who helped us win the wars that secured our freedom.

From the freezing camps of Valley Forge to the shores of Normandy, this nation has been carried not by its power, but by His providence.
When our soldiers went to war, they prayed — and they knew victory depended on more than weapons or strategy.

Every generation that turned its heart toward God saw His hand move.

Why It Still Matters
We live in a time that rewrites history to erase its Author. But removing God from the public square doesn’t make us freer — it leaves us faithless. A nation cannot stand on self-worship. Freedom without virtue collapses; virtue without God cannot stand.

Last Saturday, we saw protests declaring “No kings.” But there is only one true King — Christ Himself. I pray that people are reminded of that. Whether they already know Him or have yet to, may hearts across this nation remember that no human power or government can replace the King of Kings.

America will only stay free if it remembers Who gave her freedom.

Prayer Focus
Lord, thank You for the men and women who built this nation on Your truth. Turn our hearts back to You. Restore righteousness in our land, and raise leaders who fear You more than they fear man. Remind every heart — from the halls of power to the humblest home — that Christ alone is King.
