That Mom Club
Ever feel like you’re the “mean mom” because you’re not giving in to everything your child wants?
Welcome to the club — the grounded, godly, no-is-a-complete-sentence kind of motherhood.
We live in a world where letting kids run the show is applauded. Where saying “no” or setting limits is seen as controlling or harsh. But godly motherhood doesn’t bow to popular opinion. It bows to biblical truth.
You’re not being mean for holding a standard. You’re being faithful.
In Hebrews 12:11, we’re reminded:
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” (NIV)
Discipline isn’t cruelty. It’s cultivating peace. It’s teaching righteousness. It’s preparing your child to face a world that won’t hand them everything.
You can hug them close and hold the line. You can listen with empathy and lead with firmness. God never said parenting would be easy — but He promised He’d walk with us through it.
So today, if you feel like the “bad guy” in your house, remember this: you’re not being mean. You’re being wise.
And your child? One day, they’ll thank you.
Journal Prompt:
When have I felt misunderstood in my parenting decisions? How can I stay grounded in truth, even when others don’t understand?
Prayer for the Week:
Lord, strengthen me to parent with wisdom, not fear. Help me to be consistent in love and truth, even when it’s hard. Let my home reflect Your peace, and let my parenting point my child to You. Amen.
💪 Motherhood doesn’t come with a manual — but it does come with wisdom, strength, and a whole lot of grace.
