🎵 Sunday Songs: The Solid Rock

“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness…”

Some hymns just anchor you. When everything around you is shifting, when headlines change, when people waffle on truth — this hymn holds its ground.

The Solid Rock was written in 1834 by Edward Mote, a pastor who had no interest in church until adulthood. One day, while walking to work, words of a hymn came to him:

“On Christ the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.”

He wrote the verses during his walk, later offering them to a sick congregant who was dying. Those words were spoken at a deathbed — and they became one of the most enduring confessions of faith through storm and sorrow.

And doesn’t that speak to us today?

We live in a world that celebrates self-made identities, fleeting trends, and feelings-as-truth. But the Christian life is built not on the sand of society’s whims — but on the solid, unshakable truth of Christ.

🪨 Christ does not change.
🌧 Storms do not shake Him.
💬 Culture does not define Him.

So let them come. Let the winds blow. Let seasons shift.

Your footing is sure when it’s placed on the Rock.

You are my Rock, my Refuge, and my Righteousness.
When the world shifts beneath me, steady my heart.
When lies surround me, anchor me in Your truth.
I don’t want to build my life on anything else.
Teach me to trust the foundation You’ve laid,
and give me wisdom to live like You are unshakable — because You are.
