“Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” — Psalm 29:2 (KJV)
The Mug in Your Hand
Saturday morning. Coffee’s brewing, the house is quiet(ish), and November’s chill creeps in the window. We flipped the calendar yesterday – hello, holiday season. But here’s the truth steaming up: Holydays aren’t reserved for red-letter dates. They’re for every day. Including this one. Right now.
I used to wait for “special” to feel sacred. Thanksgiving for thanks. Christmas for wonder. But God? He says set today apart (Exodus 32:29). Turn the ordinary – this mug, this mess, this moment – into holy ground. No waiting for turkey or tinsel.
The Honest Sip
Let’s keep it real: Most days don’t feel holy. Spill on the counter. Kids arguing. To-do list glaring. Still, holiness isn’t a feeling; it’s a choice. Worship in the beauty of it? Yes – even when it’s burnt coffee and bad attitudes.
Start here:
- Hold the mug: Thank Him for the warmth. For hands that work. For grace that covers the cranky.
- Breathe it in: “Lord, this day? Yours. Set it apart.”
- Live it out: Fold laundry like an offering. Listen to the chaos like a chorus. Love the people like they’re His.
I’ve done it on the worst mornings. Declared the day holy anyway. And something shifts. Peace pours in. The everyday gets eternal. No perfection required. Just presence. His in the grind
Reflection
- What “everyday” thing can you set apart right now – make holy for Him?
- How would your Saturday change if holiness started with your coffee?
Prayer
Lord, make this Saturday – and every day – a true holyday. Set apart in Your beauty, steeped in Your presence. Turn our mugs into altars, our routines into worship. No special season needed; just hearts open to You. Amen.
☕ Holy in the here and now.
